I have been in education for 19 years. I have taught in Minnesota, California and Nevada. I have lived in Fallon since 2006 and have two sons. I enjoy my gardens and chickens;) Being an administrator at Oasis Academy College Prep has allowed me to be innovative and push kids to do things they never imagined. Building a program from the ground up has been an amazing experience! I am dedicated to making our community a better place with more educational choices for students.
I have been at Oasis Academy since 2016. I hold a Master’s Degree in Information Security and Assurance. Prior to being at Oasis, I have spent most of my technology career in the private sector supporting military services. Transitioning to the world of education has been amazing. There is nothing better than working to make your community a better place in which to live. My time at Oasis has shown me the importance of aligning my career and my passion.
This is my 16th year as an educator (15 in the classroom) and first year out of the classroom. I have a dual degree (Elementary Ed and Special Ed). I am married with four daughters and four grandchildren. I love reading and working in my yard. My favorite books are To Kill a Mockingbird, The Secret Life of Bees, and the Harry Potter series.
“You never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view–until you climb inside of his skin and walk around in it.”

Keeping people in line has been Ms. Susie’s calling in life. Whether it be children scheming to avoid their daily duties, or staff members skirting the fringe of acceptable behavior, Ms. Susie squashes problems before they can escalate and keeps the Oasis Academy gears turning smoothly and efficiently. Swift and firm, Susie is a force to be reckoned with. Problem solving coupled with a strong work ethic and her dazzling personality characterizes our beloved Administration Assistant.
She won the award for the “Most full-time part-time employee at Oasis Academy”. Whether she’s overwhelmed with assisting the Athletic Administration in implementing the new sports curriculum, managing spreadsheets, taking and placing orders, logging school inventory, coaching girl’s High School Lacrosse, or being the Board Secretary, Mrs. Swan (aka ‘Inventory Queen’) always has a smile on her face and a bounce in her walk.
