Welcome to 4th Grade!

August 14, 2019 by Kim Sorensen & Rebecca Farley

Welcome to the Sorensen/Farley team!

We are so excited to get to know your children better and watch them grow this year. We hope your families have had an awesome summer with many fun and relaxing times together.

We are looking forward to this next week as we plan and prepare for another great year.  If your child would like to come visit the classroom before school starts we will be here on Wednesday, August 14th, from 10 am to 12 noon. We also want to remind you that Back To School Night (for parents only) will take place on Wednesday, August 14th from 5:30pm-7:00pm and we look forward to meeting with each of you then. Feel free to bring in school supplies at this time to make the first day of school a little less hectic.  Our school supply list has been posted on the school website,, just search for fourth grade.

Since your child will have two homeroom teachers, we wanted to explain what your child’s day will look like.   Mrs. Sorensen will be in our classroom from 8:00am – 12:00pm.  You will reach out to her if your child is sick, or running late, or you have any other beginning-of-the-day concerns.  First thing in the morning, your children will have math with her until 9:45 where they will then head to snack recess. After that, at 10:00, they will have reading with Mrs. Renfroe.  Please reach out to her regarding any reading questions or concerns.

After lunch, your children will be spending their afternoon with Mrs. Farley doing writing and projects.  She will be in the classroom from 12:45pm to 4:00pm. You will reach out to her if your child has any afternoon appointments, early dismissals, a birthday celebration or if you have any questions about writing or projects.

Throughout the year you may have general concerns for your child- work ethic, behavior, social issues, etc.  In this case, we encourage you to include both of us on your correspondence so we can work as a team regarding your concern.

Enjoy the last week of summer.  Please be in touch with any questions or concerns you have regarding the dynamics of our classroom.  We want to make this year as smooth as possible for all of our families!
