Valentine’s Day!

Since Valentine’s Day is on a Friday this year we will not be having a Valentine’s celebration in class. However if your child would like to bring cards to shareon Thursday, February 13th, they are free to do so. We will pass them out at the end of the day and the kids can take them home.  Please be sure to include 24 if your kiddo does decide they want to share Valentine’s Day treats.

7th Grade Reading & Writing- Students will examine how particular elements in The Outsiders interact. They will also read and analyze the poem, “Hoods” to apply critical thinking strategies and gain deeper meaning. In writing, we’re finishing up personal narratives with My Favorite Mistake essays. The stories these kids are bringing to their papers are fantastic!

8th Reading & Writing – This week we will read about and research Harper Lee to learn about her life, and how it might have influenced the events in her novel, To Kill a Mockingbird. I look forward to this novel each year and am so excited to get started with it this week! In writing we are focusing a bit more on our grammar and identifying parts of a sentence.

Social Studies Projects – This is the last week for our topographical map project and informational tri-folds on the Civil War. They’ve been working diligently to get all of their content down and really start personalizing their maps. I’m looking forward to the final product on this project!
