A couple of things…
First up, thank you so much for spending part of your Friday chatting with me about your kid. It sure was nice to touch base with everyone! If you were unable to check in, no worries! Please check your email for a message from me about rescheduling for sometime this week.
Congratulations to our kiddos that were chosen for the #whyyoumatter poster! Out of 50 students, 3 from our class were selected! Way to go, guys!
On Wednesday, we buddied up with Mrs. Santos’ class and practiced sharing our love for reading! This was so much fun and I am extremely proud of how mature and kind the kids were. I’ve attached a little slideshow at the bottom of this post for you to check out. =)
Last announcement- The middle school Halloween dance is coming up on Thursday, October 24th. Please check emails coming your way soon about this event. The kids are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes and bring a guest. They each will need a permission slip signed upon entering the dance. We should have a snack signup genius headed your way this week, please take a second to check that out.
7th Grade Reading/Writing- This week we practiced answering comprehension and discussion questions using format matters and habits of discussion. The kids have been doing such an awesome job with their current events from Flocabulary and we are digging our class novel The Girl Who Drank the Moon.
8th Grade Reading/Writing- The Lord of the Flies projects have not failed to impress, I am blown away by the effort this class has put into representing Ralph, Piggy, Simon and Jack on their life sized character analysis. They are finding evidence to support their reasoning for the objects and words they chose to represent different aspects of their character’s characteristics.
Science- In projects we are just about finished up with breaking down the role of photosynthesis and respiration in the cycling of matter and flow of energy into and out of organisms. The class will complete this topic with a poster and quick presentation of their knowledge.
