Week of 9/3-9/5

September 2, 2019 by Victoria Ponessa

Hello Families,

I hope everyone had a great long weekend and could enjoy the Junior Rodeo and parade! I am hoping to have some beginning grades posted to Infinite Campus by the end of this week, just seeking some help from my colleagues to be sure that I input assignments correctly, so they are easy to view and understand.

A look to the week ahead…

5th Grade Math: We will continue to work with factors and multiples as we use prime factorization of numbers. That will lead us right into evaluating exponents and apply understanding to multiplying by powers of 10. Homework began last week. We assign two sheets per week, with the intention of working on one sheet Mon./Tues. night(s), due Wednesday, and the other to work on Wed./ Thurs. night(s), due Monday.

6th Grade Math: This week we will investigate least common multiples, take a quiz on Wednesday, on what we have learned from lessons 1-7, and continue on with the properties of multiplication. Homework began last week. We assign two sheets per week, with the intention of working on one sheet Mon./Tues. night(s), due Wednesday, and the other to work on Wed./ Thurs. night(s), due Monday.

6th Grade Projects: This week we will continue our study of Earth’s Systems by investigating gravity, the Milky Way, a quiz on Thursday, and a sizing activity with our planets. The quiz Thursday will include important vocabulary as well as cover concepts we have studied thus far. In addition, the students have been busy working on their models, which will be presented on Thursday, Sept. 12th. I estimate this will take place in our projects’ block time, sometime between 2:45-4, more precise details to come.

Looking forward to a busy week ahead! As always any questions or concerns, please email me at vponessa@oanv.org.

Thank you,

Mrs. Ponessa
