I hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. The learning keeps moving forward in this three day school week.
The week ahead in 5th grade math: We start off the week applying our understanding of long division to dividing decimals by whole numbers. This concept leads into converting fractions into decimals. On Thursday, we will begin investigating multiplying decimals by powers of 10. Here are some videos to support your students’ learning. https://www.khanacademy.org/math/cc-sixth-grade-math/cc-6th-arithmetic-operations/cc-6th-dividing-decimals/v/dividing-a-decimal-by-a-whole-number
The week ahead in 6th grade math: We continue our investigation of coordinate planes this week. Tuesday we will use coordinates to plot polygons. We continue the week by determining the distance between coordinates that will lead into finding the perimeter and area of parallelograms. The week ahead in 6th grade projects: Our trip to the museum was a great success. Students were able to gather information about what decisions they will make about their museum exhibits. This week we will be investigating Ancient India and Ancient China. The students will continue to conduct their group research and begin to build their artifacts. For the museum exhibit the students must have two artifacts, two photographs, a map, as well as captions that help teach their audience.
