It is hard to believe that this upcoming week begins our second semester of the 19-20 school year! Infinite Campus grades for the first semester have been reviewed and are up to date. Students will receive their first semester report cards (via backpack) this Thursday, January 16th.
The week ahead in 5th grade Math: We will begin the week reviewing the concepts learned in Unit 5 such as finding the area of rectangles, triangles, and parallelograms. We will have the Unit 5 Test on Wednesday, January 15th. We will begin Unit 6: Ratios on Thursday.
The week ahead in 6th grade Math: Monday, January 13th, we will take our Chapter 7 test on percents. The students were given review guides to help assist with independent review and we will review again before the test. The rest of the week we will begin Chapter 8: Algebraic Expressions, where we investigate variables and substituting numbers for these variables to solve.
The week ahead in 6th grade Projects: As we begin the second semester, our focus shifts to Social Studies. During the second semester we will complete many exciting projects to follow the timeline of history from early man to explorers. This week we begin our Early Man unit and will begin to discuss this unit’s project, which is to create cave art stories like the Early Humans painted on the Lascaux Caves.
