Week Fourteen – November 18-21

November 18, 2019 by Shayna Byrd

Pajama Drive:

High school and middle school student councils will be participating in the Scholastic Pajama Drive again this year. We will collect new pajamas for children in need in our area. The tags should be on. We need all sizes (infant to teens). The  drive will run from November 12-December 6. Donations can be dropped off in Mrs. O’Flaherty’s room. Our goal for this year is 150 sets of pajamas! Let’s do it! If you have any questions please email Mrs. O’Flaherty. Thank you so much for all of your support!

Don’t Forget:

No School during the week of November 25th. Happy Thanksgiving!

We are finishing up so many things this week! Just in time for our Fall Break!

7th Grade Reading –

This week, teams are working on finishing up their Girl Who Drank the Moon Projects. Their initial blueprint ideas are coming to life with their 3-D creations! They are honing in on their writing portions this week to finish strong.

8th Grade Reading –  This week we will complete our class novel, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The 8th graders have been doing an excellent job with their discussions. Now that there have been some pretty interesting events take place, they have bought into just how strange the case is.

7th & 8th Grade Writing – This week both classes will continue their argumentative essays. Last week they worked hard on setting reasons and finding evidence that backed up their thesis. For the remainder of this week, they will plug in their evidence and bridges and complete their concluding paragraphs.

Recovery plans for each groups endangered animals are coming along. They’ve finished up their research portion of the project and are now putting together team member’s information to build a recovery plan. I am proud of the teams that are putting so much of what we’ve learned over the last few weeks into their presentations.
