5th Grade Math – Last week we finished up Unit 2 on order of operations, multiplying and dividing multi-digit numbers and the distributive property. We took our Unit test on Thursday, and today we began Unit 3 on Fractions. This week we will cover equivalent fractions, simplifying fractions, comparing fractions, and converting fractions to mixed numbers and vice versa.
6th Grade Math – We finished up Chapter 2 on Fractions last week, and took the Unit Test on Thursday. Today, we began Chapter 3 on Decimals. This week we will cover converting fractions to decimals and vice versa, adding and subtracting decimals, and determining where to place a decimal point when multiplying and dividing by powers of ten.
6th Grade Projects – We have been working on our landform projects. So far, we’ve been focusing on the essay that explains how our landform was formed and changed over time. We should begin building our models this week, and continue working on the essay as we go.
This week, we’re learning about tectonic plates and plate motions and boundaries.
