Last week, we had curator Rae Sotille visit us from the Churchill County Museum. She brought in lots of rocks and fossils from the Great Basin area! The class did an amazing job representing Oasis by being fantastic listeners and asking thoughtful questions!
5th Grade Math – This week, we will continue to practice multi-digit multiplication and division. The 5th grade class has come so far in these two skills already! They’ve been working really hard and are not giving up! We will practice and review all week and take our Unit 2 Test on Thursday!
6th Grade Math – This week we are wrapping up our Fractions Unit, which has covered multiplying and dividing fractions, whole numbers, and mixed numbers. We will wrap up this week, review, and take the Chapter Two Test on Thursday! They are ready and well-prepared!
6th Grade Projects – We have been studying Earth’s changes in Science. We’ve been learning about rock types, rock cycles, weathering, erosion, deposition, and the water cycle. We have been discussing our next project which is to build a model of a landform, and write an essay explaining how it formed and how it has changed over time. I have provided each group with a cookie sheet on which they will build their model. We also have lots of class clay. Your student may have a small list of materials for this project. Those materials can come in any time this week so we can start building. They are very excited about his project!
