Week 6

September 22, 2019 by Mandy Helwig

Monday is Picture Day!

5th Grade Math – This week we will continue to multiply multi-digit numbers, using the standard algorithm. We will also begin to divide using the standard algorithm. These skills can be challenging at first, and lots of practice is important! Here are some links to Khan Academy for you and/or students to watch at home:

6th Grade Math – This week, we continue with our fractions unit. We are multiplying and dividing fractions and mixed numbers. We really covered this heavily in 5th grade, so it is mostly a review for the 6th graders.

6th Grade Projects – We have moved on to Unit 2 – Earth’s Systems. This unit covers the water cycle, the rock cycle, tectonic plates, clues about Earth history from fossils, erosion, weathering, volcanoes, earthquakes, seafloor spreading and more. New vocabulary is available to study on Quizlet; students have access to this through Google Classroom. On Monday, we will explain the next project and come up with a supply list. On Wednesday, we have guest speakers coming from the Churchill County Museum.
