Here we are in Week 32! The days are getting warmer and longer (as I write it’s 8:00 pm and not completely dark), and our year is getting shorter. I know this was mentioned a couple of weeks ago but, it is very important that your child comes to school with a water bottle labeled with your child’s name. This is especially important on our P.E. days (Monday and Wednesday).
This week, students will be exploring fractions. We will be looking at wholes versus fractions, as well as halves, thirds, fourths, sixths, and eighths. Some of the key vocabulary students will be using will include numerator, denominator, whole, half, thirds, fourths, sixths, and eighths.
In language students will be using a known root word to determine the meaning of other words with the same root word. If students understand the meaning of the word addition, they can use that information to understand the meaning of the word additional.
We are down to writing the final copies of our final opinion piece. Our focus in writing this week will be related to Mother’s Day!!
Student Botanists have been busy taking care of their 6 growing seeds. Students have been observing and keeping plant logs. The logs include dates, time in the sun, and watering information. Students have also worked on typing their tri-fold board information. This week students will continue this work, while also learning about the parts of a flower and the job of those parts. We will focus on the pollination process this week.
Wishing everyone a wonderful week and all the Moms, Grandmas, and Aunts a special Mother’s Day!!
