Week 28 (April 8-11) with Mrs. Farley

April 6, 2019 by Kim Sorensen & Rebecca Farley

Welcome back Bighorns! I hope y’all had a wonderful and rejuvenating Spring Break! I had a relaxing week, but have really missed your children!

Before break we began our study of volcanoes. Thank you for sending all of the supplies and materials for your child to complete the construction of the group volcano. See pictures below. This week, we will continue our volcano research and increase our knowledge of volcanoes. Students will continue to study the same vocabulary terms from before spring break, and we will take our assessment for those words on Thursday.

I am excited to integrate our projects lesson into our writing time this week. Since we are strengthening our informative writing skills, we will research, plan and begin a writing assignment on volcanoes. Students will practice narrowing down a subject to write about and choosing sub-topics to incorporate into their writings.

  • Parent/Teacher Conferences are THIS Friday, 4/11. Please select a time slot from the below signup genius. These meetings typically take less than 15 minutes and are important to us and your child.
  • FYI- Our class recently reached their goal of 20 class points and will be celebrating with a “Brownie a’la mode” party this Tuesday afternoon. We are all looking forward to a yummy treat provided by Mrs. Sorensen and myself 🙂
  • MONDAY- April 22- “I’m All Ears – OA Parents Asking Questions” forum.  The forum will be held at both 8:00-8:30 a.m. and 5:15-5:45 p.m. This is an effort to provide a forum for parents to ask any question they want regarding any topic.  The “I’m All Ears” forum will have no agenda!  Parents can bring any questions to the table and get accurate answers from school leadership.
