4th Grade Math: This week in math we will finish up our operations with fractions unit. We have added, subtracted and multiplied all kinds of fractions. We will work on word problems with fractions this week and then review and test on Thursday. I am impressed with these 4th graders and their hard work on fractions. I will be sending home MAPS report this week. I am proud of the growth this class has made. I know we can keep it up! I continue to encourage the kids to work on Khan Academy to help keep them well rounded math students and working on skills that they need to improve.

3rd Grade Math: This week we will finish up our multiplication and division unit working with 6, 7, 8, and 9s. We will review and test on Thursday. I will be sending home MAPS report this week. I am proud of the growth this class has made. I know we can keep it up! I continue to encourage the kids to work on Khan Academy to help keep them well rounded math students and working on skills that they need to improve.
In writing, we will finish publishing our first opinion masterpiece. Students are typing or handwriting this assignment and will it will be graded to the rubric as we have discussed in class. We are still reviewing different grammar standards each week and having great having class discussions. Students use class time to complete grammar worksheets and/or take an assessment on each weekly skill. We will also spend time this week researching and discussing possible topics for our next opinion masterpiece.
In projects, students will take their NON renewable vocabulary quiz on Monday and receive new vocabulary words for the regular assessment this Thursday. Your child was assigned a project group and a natural resource last week. They will continue research next week to create a slideshow and make an oral presentation to share their knowledge. Students seem excited to create their slideshow and I can’t wait to see the final products.
