Week 18, Jan. 22-24 with Mrs. Farley

January 19, 2019 by Kim Sorensen & Rebecca Farley

Hi! Last week in projects your child began studying the different types of energy and natural resources. We learned about fossil fuels, the difference between renewable and non-renewable resources and examples of each. The kids did great on their non renewable vocab quiz! Students were moved into new project groups and began researching information on their assigned natural resource for their slideshow. The research, planning and creation of the slideshows will continue through this coming week. The groups will present their slideshows to our class on Thursday.

In writing last week, we reviewed our original Crazy Weather story and introduced the OREO method for opinion writing. We will continue strengthening our opinion writings and editing skills in upcoming weeks. This coming week we will introduce models of writing that showcase different techniques using dialogue. Your child will create their own short story and show off their creative abilities using dialog and “voice” throughout their story.
