Week 1 is in the books!

September 8, 2018 by Kim Sorensen & Rebecca Farley

Hello Parents and Students! We had a great first week of school, and I wanted to share some of the highlights!

Tuesday was filled with excitement as all the students unpacked their supplies, formed table groups and started familiarizing themselves with the classroom and procedures. Each student personalized their own pennant which will be hung in hallway on our “Bravo Board”.

Wednesday and Thursday were spent introducing and reviewing our Tribes Agreement ( mutual respect, right to pass, appreciations/no put downs, and attentive listening). Students were placed into teams and responsible for making posters to describe each agreement. Ask your students which agreement they were responsible for! I think everyone enjoyed the brown bag assignment and they were excited to share the “treasures” in their bag that described them! If your child hasn’t brought their bag, please make sure they bring it Monday.

Next week in projects we will start studying the Nevada Settlers. Several guest speakers are lined out to come talk to us about their respective groups. In writing we will introduce Sentence of the Week, a helpful method used to help students identify sentence structure, language, and editing skills. Students will also begin writing in their journals.

Thank you for sharing your kids with us! They are a spectacular bunch and I am looking forward to getting to know them better.

Enjoy your weekend!

Mrs. Farley
