Hello!

I hope everyone had a great weekend. Shown below is our 3rd grade class “catch me jar” winner from last week. When a student does something that stands out and deserves to be recognized, I have them put their name in the catch me jar. I then randomly draw a name from the jar and the student’s name that is drawn wins a prize. Our winner this week went above and beyond in the classroom. Well done!

We will be working on the following skills this week in class:

Projects:  Students will continue to work on their animal research project and will begin to organize their information in preparation for their final poster presentations. Students will present their research findings to the class on Wednesday.

Writing: Last week we learned about the different techniques writers use to “hook” their reader. Students will practice using those techniques to write introductions for their personal narratives. Students will be learning how to write the letter D in cursive this week as well.

3rd Grade ELA:  We will review and practice using adjectives during grammar. Students will learn about ways we can identify intrinsic and extrinsic character traits and how to use those to see how a character changes throughout a story.  Our focus text this week is Pinduli.  Students will also continue practicing their time management by completing Must Dos/May Dos for Daily 5.

4th Grade ELA: We will review and practice using adjectives during grammar. Students will learn about ways we can identify intrinsic and extrinsic character traits and how to use those to see how a character changes throughout a story.  Our focus text this week is Pinduli.  Students will also continue practicing their time management by completing Must Dos/May Dos for Daily 5.

REMINDERS:

  • We will continue doing John’s Reading Assessments this week to determine beginning of the year reading levels.
  • Reading homework log needs to be signed every night and homework folders brought back to class everyday.
  • Wednesday, September 11th is a school dress up day.  Students may wear red, white, and/or blue that day if they bring in $1. All proceeds will go to the Family Engagement Committee. Clothing must cover the same amount as the uniforms do. Any violent or prohibited wording will lead to the student having to call home for a change of clothes.
  • Thursday, September 26th will be a pajama dress up day. Students must bring a minimum $1 donation  to participate. All proceeds will be going to the Nevada Childhood Cancer Foundation.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Have a wonderful week!
