September 14, 2019 by Janet Renfroe

Hello!

Shown below is our 4th grade class “catch me jar” winner from this week. When a student does something that stands out and deserves to be recognized, I have them put their name in the catch me jar. I then randomly draw a name from the jar and the student’s name that is drawn wins a prize. Our winner this week went above and beyond in the classroom. Well done!

We will be working on the following skills this week in class:

Projects:  We will participate in a Google Expedition simulation with Mr. Kelly on Monday. Students will be studying the various types of camouflage that animals use. Students will then create camouflaged butterflies to place around the classroom. Our class objective is to use evidence to explain how variations in characteristics among same species may provide advantages in survival.

Writing: Students will practice using transition words to add detail sentences to a narrative. We will also focus on describing feelings while using vivid details within our sentences.  Students will be learning how to write the letter E in cursive this week as well.

3rd Grade ELA: Students will review and practice using synonyms during grammar. We will identify when and why a character’s feelings change throughout a story. Our focus text this week is Crow BoyStudents will also continue practicing their time management by completing Must Dos/May Dos for Daily 5.
