Mrs. Renfroe 3/8/20

March 8, 2020 by Janet Renfroe

I can’t believe how fast time is passing! We had another busy and fun week in class! 4th grade reached their class goal and was able to enjoy a field trip to Safeway! In third grade we finished our class novel (Pie). We will be celebrating the completion of our book with an afternoon of pie! If you are great at baking and willing to make a pie for Wednesday, please email me! I am so grateful and appreciative of all that you do!

Our 3rd grade catch me jar winner is featured below. This student was recognized for going above and beyond in class. Well done!

This week, we will be practicing the following skills:

Social Studies: We will put the finishing touches on our Nevada immigration book by editing our writing and working on our illustrations.  We can’t wait to see how the book turns out once it’s published!

Writing: We will finish reviewing how to write strong conclusions for informational pieces and use some of our writing time to work on our Nevada immigration book. In cursive we will be working on the letter Z.

3rd Grade ELA: We use two mentor texts this week, I Dissent and The House that Jane Built, to discuss cause and effect relationships within a story, review flashbacks, and practice using text evidence to support our inferences. During Daily 5, students will work on Must Do/May Dos and meet with me for reading groups.

Spelling:

  • Students will not be given new spelling words this week.  We will resume our spelling schedule when we return from Spring Break.

Latin/Greek:

  • Students will be doing a cumulative review of the prefixes and suffixes covered so far and will be assessed on Thursday.
