A big congratulations to Troy Renfroe and Aubrey Vaughn for their outstanding performances at last week’s district spelling bee. We are so proud of both of you!
Candy grams will be sold in the cafeteria until Wednesday, February 12th. Students in grades 3-12, and parents, may purchase.
Students are welcome to hand out Valentines this Thursday at the end of the day. However, if they are handed out at school there must be one for each student in the class.
7th Grade ELA: Students will continue reading The Outsiders. We are learning the characters and setting of the novel, and we will get into some major events this week. We will finish narratives for writing on Thursday.
8th Grade ELA: Continue with To Kill a Mockingbird. Students are gaining an understanding of life during the Great Depression, along with Jim Crow Laws of the deep South during that time. In writing students will write short analyses of characters and settings of our class novel.
Projects: We will start studying the Gilded Age and Industrialization this week. Students will watch short video clips, fill out note takers, and have discussions about the rise of the railroads, big corporations, and the Populist Party that arose as a result.
Homework: Reading Log filled out (20 minutes of reading).
