December 9-12

December 9, 2019 by Amy O'Flaherty

We are extending our pajama drive and will now collect pajamas until Wednesday, December 18th. Our goal is to collect 150 pairs, and we have 70 as of right now. Thank you so much to those who have donated!

If possible, students should bring in 24 small items to stuff in each stocking in the classroom. We will do this on Thursday, December 19th.

7th Grade Reading–We will continue reading Two Miserable Presidents in preparation for our study of the Civil War in January. Students will learn the causes, events, important people, etc. of this important time in our nation’s history. Students will take the ELA MAPS tests on Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.

7th Grade Writing–Students will finish their argumentative essays this week. They have worked hard to develop strong thesis statements, and build their body paragraphs around them.

8th Grade Reading–We will continue reading Two Miserable Presidents in preparation for our study of the Civil War in January. Students will learn the causes, events, important people, etc. of this important time in our nation’s history.

8th Grade Writing–Students will have an unassisted argumentative essay to write this week. They just finished one that I conferred with them on, so now it’s time for them to show they can write independently on a given topic!

Projects–We will continue our study of heredity this week. Students will learn about Gregor Mendel and how traits are passed down.

Homework this week: Read 20 minutes and fill out reading log. This is a homework grade and I will check them every Monday.
