Dec 10-13, Mrs. Farley

December 9, 2018 by Kim Sorensen & Rebecca Farley

Thank you to all of the parents that came to the parent teacher conferences. Please schedule a meeting as soon as possible (if you haven’t already done so) so we can discuss important topics. As I mentioned Friday during conferences, I will now begin sending home the same vocabulary words that your child is practicing in class. If they can spend just 5 minutes a night reviewing these vocabulary words I know this will help with retention and ultimately success on their test at the end of the unit.

The students did a great job last week as we worked through our fast paced economics unit and began brainstorming writing ideas. This week in projects we will begin our Life Science unit. I am excited to see the students work together to learn the internal and external structure and function of different animals and their different adaptations.

In writing we will continue to brainstorm writing ideas and introduce the basics of opinion writing. Opinion writing will be our focus this trimester. As a class, we will learn the fundamentals of this unit through direct instruction, videos, games, and of course a lot of practice.

Reminders:

**Your 4th grader will be singing as a part of the Oasis Christmas Concert, December 19th, 7pm at the convention center.  Students should come dressed in their nicest concert attire. We will have refreshments afterwards so anyone that would like to bring a treat to share would be greatly appreciated.

**Oasis Academy Student Council is still collecting brand new pajamas for our annual Scholastic Pajama Drive. All pajamas will be donated to local children in need. If you’re able, please donate a new pair of pajamas–we will accept donations through Thursday, December 13th.

We have 2 more weeks until Christmas break! (as if you needed reminding:)
