It also allows students to understand both why they support different candidates or positions but also why those they disagree with support different candidates and...

Not just to know there is a constitution and somewhere in it rights are protected but to know specifically where those rights are protected. So this Thursday students will take a memory quiz. It’s a one shot thing and there are study materials online, but because this is so different from what I do most of time there is an opportunity for large amounts of extra...

First Projects

This week on Wednesday US History students will be beginning their first project. Projects are worth 20% of their grade, this project is an individual assignment and should involve some creativity, most of my projects have an artistic and a written component so students that are better at one can usually make up the grade from the other. In 2 weeks Government will do their 1st project as well. The most important thing to remember about Projects is they are not homework. Many students obsess and...

How tests work in Mr. Martin’s class

This Monday the Sophomores will be taking a test, and next week the Freshman and the students in World History will be taking a test so I thought this was a good time to explain tests. All my tests are written, some are 1 page essays like the one this week, some are speeches, but generally they require the student to create some type of structured, academic, social studies writing. If a student gets below a 70% they are required to re write the test until it is at an A-B level. This will be...
