Reading:  This week in reading we focused on point of view.  We practiced determining what the author’s point of view is and compared it to our own point of view.  We also looked to see if a story was written in 1st person point of view, 2nd person point of view or 3rd person point of view. Reading:  We introduced character traits and practiced finding evidence in the text to support the trait. Week 4

Reading: The students learned how to use context clues to determine the meaning of an unknown word. Spelling:  Third graders will receive spelling words on Monday.  They will be tested on 10/11.  The words this time are high frequency words.  They will have to be able to use the correct form of the word within context.  When testing, they will have to write the entire sentence.  They will be graded on having a capital, ending punctuation, and spelling all spelling words...

Week 1

Week one was a huge success!  This is such a great class.     Reading: We reviewed picking a good fit book and  we practiced reading to self.  Both 3rd and 4th grades can already read for 20 minutes without disruption!  Usually this is something that a class has to build up to being able to do.  Next week we will be able to move on to other parts of Daily 5.
