Week 19 – OnoFeest

Hello! We had a busy and fun week in 4th grade! This month is flying by, but we are enjoying every minute! In writing, students continued working on their opinion masterpieces and wrote strong topic and concluding sentences for their body paragraphs. We also worked to make our word choice more interesting so that our writing is more exciting. Once students completed those writing tasks, they focused on using appropriate transitions throughout their paper and wrapped up the week by...

Week 16 – OnoFeest

Parents, We are down to the final week of the 2019 year! We will still be working hard next week, but will enjoy a class Christmas party on Thursday afternoon. Your child should have brought home a small paper which was paper clipped to the inside flap of their black take home folder. This paper has the name of a student your child will buy a gift for. Each child wrote down 3-5 things that they want, enjoy, or like. Students then drew a classmate to be their “Secret Santa”...

Week 15 – OnoFeest

Bighorns, The 4th graders have been working so hard with fractions over the past couple of weeks. On Thursday we took our unit assessment on equivalent fractions, comparing fractions, adding and subtracting fractions, and working with improper fractions and mixed numbers. We will have one more fraction unit after the holidays. In the meantime, we will be spending the next 2 weeks on bar graphs, line plots and symmetry. I think these units will be a refreshing pause from some of the heavier...

Week 13 – OnoFeest

Bighorns, What a whirlwind of a week we had! I hope you enjoyed your Veterans Day. We had a wonderful lesson on the observance of Veterans Day and wrote letters to veterans to show our support for their sacrifice for each of us. Growing up an Army brat taught me how important it is to remember those, like my father and husband, who sacrifice to serve our country. The kids really connected to this and it was interesting to see how many students have a connection to someone in the armed...

Week 12 – OnoFeest

Bighorns, This week in math, we finished up our trimester with our big unit test on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.  We also ensured that we remembered concepts taught earlier this trimester by taking an end-of-trimester assessment on Thursday.  All of this data will be reflected on your student’s report card next week.  I am excited to announce we will be shifting gears and will begin working with fractions next week.  Fractions are a huge portion of 4th...

Week 11 – OnoFeest

Bighorns, This week in 4th grade math, we continued to work on multi-digit division. This is the most challenging computation as the children are still learning how numbers fit inside each other. There were a couple of bumps in the road because of Tuesday’s power outage and Thursday’s Halloween parade. But come next week, I think we’ll be able to solidify our knowledge of partial quotient division.  Just a reminder- when content based homework comes home each week, please hold...

In projects, students learned about a map key and why it is an important part of a map. They finished locating physical features on their large...
