Dear 4th Parents, We hope this letter finds you all well, healthy, and in good spirits. We miss our students! We have been busy working hard to adjust to this new at home distance learning situation we now find ourselves in. Please know that we are in this together! We will surely have some bumps, but we will figure it out and look forward to working together. This is the only email/blog post that you will receive for the foreseeable future.  All class wide communication will now...

Week 27 – OnoFeest

Bighorns, It was a great last week loaded with lots of learning in spite of Spring Break fever! In writing, students continued researching their volcanoes by deciding on three subtopics to write about. They created an anchor chart to help with organization and a table of contents based on those subtopics they chose to write about. Students also learned about paraphrasing and the importance of writing facts in their own words rather than plagiarizing – not an easy thing to do for...

Hello! Spring is in the air! We have four days left before Spring Break begins. I hope you and your children get some much needed R & R. In writing, students generated topic ideas for their informational masterpieces this trimester. Students learned to brainstorm by thinking about topics they already know about or love as well as those they are curious about. Next week students will choose subtopics and begin their research on their chosen volcano to begin their informational...

Week 23 – OnoFeest

This week in 4th grade math we finished up our unit on measurement and conversions.  This was such a tough unit, but also so applicable to life!  We will be starting a fresh unit on decimals next week, that will take us all the way to spring break!  Next week also marks the end of Trimester 2!  We will be taking some End of Trimester assessments so I can accurately gauge where everyone stands before report cards and parent/teacher conferences.  I look forward to chatting with each of you...

Week 22 – OnoFeest

This week in math we kicked off a short unit of measurement, conversions, and adding, subtracting and multiplying compound units of measurement.  The kids have expressed that this unit is “hurting their brains” as every question works in a different unit of measure.  They’ve been chugging along and I’m happy with the progress they have made.  We will finish up this unit next week and there will be an assessment on Thursday.  Just a quick...

Week 21 – OnoFeest

Bighorns, In 4th grade math, we have just finished up our final unit on adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions. I am proud of the fraction work completed by this group of kiddos and I feel confident sending them on to 5th grade with a strong base. We are moving into a 2 week unit on measurement and conversions. This unit ties in well with “real life” math, so please talk to your child when you are measuring liquid in the kitchen, or about how far you have left to go when you’re...
