This week in English…

Ninth graders are working on a college research paper. This work is done mostly in class, with some time at home. Rough drafts are due on 2/4 and final drafts are due 2/13. Tenth graders are reading Shakespeare’s play Hamlet. We are doing the reading mostly in class, with acting days, class discussion, and some writing to help everyone understand the plot and the language. Finals this Week

This week all 9th and 10th graders are taking finals. We have a slightly adjusted schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday to give students time to take these in class before lunch at 11:40. Attendance is important on those days, as is adequate sleep. As we end the semester, this is a good time for all students to double check their classes and make sure all work is turned in before the break. Report cards will be distributed in January. The weeks are flying by in ninth and tenth grade English. Tenth graders are almost done with a combined research paper, which is due Nov. 18. Week 11 – HS English

This week all ninth grade students are reading How to Win Friends and Influence People in the Digital Age. We started the book last week and are having some great discussions in class. We are half way through the first quarter of the year. All students should be reading their own book at home (or in study hall) for an in-class book report on October 7.
